The Orphanage, a versatile and dynamic music producer, came to SDS with a proposal to create an eye catching full Flash site. He wanted a distinct design that would represent his music in a visual way. He wanted it to be fluid and alive, moving with the music and leaving the visitor impressed both visually and aurally. He wanted the focus of the site to be the music, with the content moving around it. He wanted something unconventional and original, yet intuitive and easy to use.

We chose to go with a 50's minimal grunge theme to reflect the jazz elements in the music and a dark and bold overarching aesthetic to accent the hip hop and electronic nature of the music. We chose to focus the design around a vintage radio set, with actual working buttons and knobs. The entire site would focus around the central element of the radio. This way the user would always return back to the music. We wanted the information to come out of the radio, as if all of the information was contained within the music. We were able to achieve this with some pseudo 3D motion design. Using ActionScript, we weaved meticulous graphic design and imaging with motion through Flash to create a realistic and dynamic full screen flash website.

The Orphanage was very pleased with our work and has gone on to promote his upcoming album with it, garnering a large following, impressing his visitors with a stunning unconventional design.

Bloginity - Online Culture Entertainment News magazine, approached SDS with a comprehensive proposal.

They wanted to recreate their entire site architecture, while still preserving their back-end Wordpress functionality. They wanted SDS to redesign and re-develop their header, search bar, home page, archive page, and re-style their entire CSS structure. In short, they wanted a complete makeover.

Bloginity laid down their objectives in the redesign. They wanted to reduce the bounce rate, increase page-views, increase traffic, decrease loading time, and decrease bandwidth usage.

First, SDS underwent a thorough research phase to understand the current dynamics of Bloginity's traffic sources. Through understanding the demographics, we were able to gain insight into the browsing habits of the average visitor to Bloginity. In analyzing the data about user resolution, operating system, browsing times, and other information, we were able to conclude that the average user was female, between the ages of 18 and 35, and was visiting the site at the office.

Then, using this information, we began drafting a concept design which would appeal to this target demographic. Once we created the desired design, we spent weeks developing and optimizing our development to ensure an efficient, optimal design not only in aesthetics, but as well as in the back end and coding as well to maintain low bandwidth usage and fast loading times. We took the existing Wordpress back end functions and completely customized the back end architecture, stretching it to allow for the complex functions and features Bloginity wanted. We developed not only the front end and its aesthetics, but we completely re-did the website architecture from the inside-out, making it more efficient, more powerful, yet easier to use.

Once the site was completed and launched, we conducted a user survey analysis to gauge the reaction to the new design. Overall, it was a challenging task, we had to overcome many many challenges, but in the end, we succeeded.

After the re-design, through heat map analysis and google analytics statistics, we saw that we:
- Reduced the bounce rate from 74% to a mere 6%.
- Increased traffic by 27%
- Increased page-views by 19,000, and despite all this,
- Reduced bandwidth usage by 8%
- Decreased loading time from 9 to 7 seconds.
- 87% positive visitor feedback on the new design
